Meet Dr. Charles “Charlie” Boxx

Enthusiasm and compassion along with a sense of humor are all evident when meeting Dr. Charlie Boxx. “I would describe myself as approachable and down to earth, easy-going but a hard worker (if that combination exists,)” he says modestly with a smile. “No question is ‘dumb’ or ‘inappropriate.’ I want patients to know that I’m here for them, and I want their experience to be nothing but positive.”

A son of two medical professionals, his dad a general dentist and his mom employed at a medical research firm, Charlie’s interest in dentistry began during his childhood in Newport News, VA spending time in his father’s dental office. During the summers of his years at Virginia Tech, where he majored in Biology graduating Cum Laude, he shadowed and assisted an oral surgeon. “It didn’t take long for me to realize that this was what I wanted to do with my life. I loved the combination of dentistry, medicine, trauma, and anesthesia.”

“I was so scared to get my wisdom teeth removed, but Dr. Boxx and his staff made me feel at ease from check in , consultation and procedure day!”

Education and Credentials

Charlie has followed through with that love, graduating from VCU School of Dentistry Magna Cum Laude and as a member of Omicron Kappa Upsilon Honor Society. He received his Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Certification from VCU where he was honored with the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons Dental Student Award and was a recipient of the 2018 Geistlich Osteoscience Resident Implant Conference Scholarship.

“Completing my residency at VCU has given me the opportunity to observe, operate with, and learn from the doctors at COFS over the past few years, and I’ve always had a tremendous respect for their dedication to both their patients and to teaching others. I’ve viewed them as role models, and it’s an absolute honor to now be able to work alongside them. I’m also excited to join such a helpful, welcoming and friendly staff.”

Of special interest to Charlie are dental implants, orthognathic surgeries, pathology, and facial trauma surgeries.
