Our team refers to him as a highly skilled, energetic and personable young surgeon. And one of our doctors actually calls him family. Dr. Peter Broccoli is now a surgeon at Commonwealth Oral & Facial, where he joins his brother, Dr. Nicholas Broccoli.
Dr. Peter Broccoli came to us directly from VCU Medical Center, where he completed his oral and maxillofacial surgery residency. This rising star has been the recipient of numerous awards, including the American College of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons William H. Bell Award. He has also been highly dedicated to community service, taking part in efforts including the Missions of Mercy Project, VCU Give Kids a Smile, Dental Access Days and the Jamaica Mission Project.
Along with his brother and sister, Dr. Broccoli grew up in an Air Force family. Born in Arkansas and raised on Long Island, he recognized at a young age that he had a fascination with how things were built. While he first wanted to be an architect, he later became captivated by how the human body was constructed.
Dr. Broccoli studied Exercise Science at the University of South Carolina (Go Gamecocks!), where he graduated Magna Cum Laude. After shadowing his brother in dental school, he discovered a new passion – oral surgery. Upon graduation from USC, he attended VCU School of Dentistry, and continued at VCU for his residency.
Now at Commonwealth, Dr. Broccoli is living the dream, working with his brother, staying hands-on with a wide range of surgical procedures, and helping patients feel relaxed, informed, and genuinely cared for. He’s especially passionate about orthognathic surgery and facial reconstruction, where he can help people not only feel better, but truly transform their lives. His philosophy: Treat every patient like family, because everyone deserves that level of care.
When he’s not in scrubs, you’ll most likely find Dr. Broccoli spending time with his wife Payton (an orthodontist and his dental school sweetheart), their German Shepherd Josie (queen of fetch), or exploring Richmond’s trails, music scene, and coffee shops. He’s also a beach bum at heart, and a big believer in Sunday naps and McDonald’s breakfast.
